A lens implant can greatly improve your ability to see.
KENNETH MISELIS, MD: Refractive lens exchange is a procedure designed to correct a patient’s refractive error in a different system from laser vision correction, PRK, or Lasik. The way it works is that the lens of the eye is removed and replaced with an intraocular lens, or implant. That implant is designed to replace the lens that we removed, as well as to correct for the prescription that the patient needed in their glasses. So we can build their prescription, instead of in their glasses, into the lens that we implant into the eye, which gives them more independence from glasses.
